Otto started in 2019 with a single idea:

Make it easy to build beautiful ADUs & homes.

A modern two-story house with a sloped metal roof, featuring large windows with red frames. The house is surrounded by a landscaped garden with various plants and rocks, and a pathway leading to the entrance. In the foreground, there is a bicycle parked beside the house, with mountains visible in the background. The scene is set in a sunny environment.

Since then, we’ve completed 80+ projects across 14 Southern California jurisdictions and built an operating system for residential construction. Today, we apply that same system to fire rebuilds in Altadena and Pacific Palisades, custom homes across LA County, and ADUs throughout the region.

We hold an active California GC license (#1081287) and employ our own architects, so design and construction stay coordinated from first sketch to final walkthrough. Our work has been recognized with industry awards, and we’re frequently covered by the Los Angeles Times. We bring the tools, experience, and taste to make complex projects feel simple and well managed.

Meet the team

Sean

Sean trained as an architect at UC Berkeley and MIT, and worked in Tokyo and San Francisco. He founded Otto in 2019 to bring design, permitting, and construction under one roof, and now leads strategy and client relationships across Otto's rebuild, custom, and ADU work.

Alex

Alex leads design and architecture at Otto, working directly with homeowners to translate vision into permit-ready drawings. He oversees the architectural team and the design review process on every project, ensuring the vision developed with clients is the home that actually gets built.

George

George runs permitting and pre-construction at Otto, navigating LA County, LADBS, Coastal Zone, and hillside reviews. He spent 10+ years in architecture before joining the team, with deep experience across multifamily, infill, and complex residential approvals.
