LA City ADU Guide Main 1
Latest Update: September 6, 2025
Introduction
This guide is intended for those who have already decided to rebuild their property after the 2025 Eaton Fire and want to know more about how that process would work with Otto Build. Some sentences that help introduce the topic and what we are and are not covering (or what kind of person this does or does not help).
Heading
Insurance
Multiple paragraphs about high level concerns regarding insurance and financing. We are not insurance or financing people though -- so what is really valuable/relevant for us to say here? And what info is better found on other websites?
Write about how we will work with their insurance company if needed (e.g. if your insurance company needs the new project to be comparable to the original home, we can provide documentation showing this).
We can also provide provisional construction contract early on.
Write about how we can provide upfront pricing.
Site Analysis
We need to understand what was previously existing on the site,
Then we determine what is allowed to be built based on current regulations, such as zoning code, building code, and any emergency rules that have been implemented due to the fire.
We also need a site survey (potentially including topography).
And you may need or want a soil analysis.
Subheading (if req’d)
You may need to know the size and location of the structures that were on your site if a) you are getting money from insurance and b) if you are trying to rebuild under the “like-for-like” rules.
Here’s how we can determine what was previously on your site.
Do we need the ability to do a little callout bubble? I think it’s fun but relatively low value and therefore definitely not necessary.
Bullet Point 1: Here’s some text and stuff
Bullet Point 2: Here’s another thought about that.

Soils Analysis
A CAM 17 soil study in California refers to the analysis of soil samples for the presence and concentration of 17 specific heavy metals, as outlined in the California Administrative Code (CAM). These metals are commonly associated with potential environmental and health risks, and their analysis is often required for environmental investigations, hazardous waste characterization, and post-fire assessments in California. They are a specific type of study that follows a particular evidentiary process and critical analysis that are accepted by LA County, CA EPA and insurance companies
